Is Live-In Care Really Practical?

Executive Home Care is dedicated to providing seniors the best possible care they can receive within the comfort of their own homes. There are many great assisted living communities and nursing homes across the country. But many seniors do not like the idea of going to these places. It means having to move out of their homes. Homes that they love and in which they have lived for decades in some cases. That’s why Executive Home Care is here. Because seniors should not have to leave their homes just to receive care.

But in-home senior care isn’t always for everybody. It’s not always practical. Sure, it’s great for seniors who need just small amounts of care; maybe help with the laundry or grocery shopping. But what about seniors who need more care than that? What about seniors who require around the clock care?

Around the Clock Care

Some seniors have conditions or health issues that mean that they need access to a caregiver 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These seniors might require assistance to get in and out of bed, on or off the sofa, or using the toilet. These seniors might have colostomy or ostomy bags with which they require assistance. These seniors might be at risk for falls and therefore need somebody close by them at all times so as to ensure they’re not stuck on the ground for hours on end.

For these seniors, the best thing for them must surely be to move into a nursing home or a similar facility. After all, you can’t very well arrange for a caregiver to hang around every minute of the day, can you? Well actually, you kind of can. It’s called live-in care.

Live-In Care

Many senior healthcare agencies, including Executive Home Care, offer live-in care services. Live-in care is designed for seniors who have more complex needs that necessitate around the clock care. Here’s how it works: a live-in caregiver stays in the home of the client 24 hours a day and is available to assist whenever needed. The assigned caregiver provides personal, social and domestic in-home care and supervision to the degree that is appropriate for the client in question.

These live-in care services are designed to help with the activities of daily living. This assistance allows the senior client in question to remain in a safe, clean, and healthy home environment. At Executive Home Care, our custom-designed Plan of Care makes sure that the home care services are delivered in the most dignified, effective, and cost-efficient manner possible. Of course, the live-in caregivers need some time to live their own lives, so schedules will be drafted and adhered to, but the points is that they are never too far away to give care whenever it is needed.

Live-In Caregivers

All prospective live-in caregivers undergo an intensive pre-employment screening process, which includes a criminal background check as well as verification of references and employment history. Live-in caregivers are subject to all state and federal health requirements.  All live-in caregivers are bonded and insured, experienced, skills tested, and they all undergo continuing education and training in senior home care.
