When Should You Consider Getting Home Health Care?

When Should You Consider Getting Home Health Care

As you and your loved ones age, life tends to get more difficult. That’s just an annoying fact. For some of us, the difficulties might be as minor as some joint pain or a lack of energy. Or it can be as serious as some significant health problems that require a lot of, even around-the-clock, care. But do all these people in all these situations require home health care? Does everybody qualify? When is it appropriate to utilise home health care?

Home Health Care

As we watch our parents, grandparents, or any elderly family members age, we can see that their health becomes their –and our– prime concern. And as things get tougher and more uncomfortable for them, we wonder if now is the time that we must bundle them off to the nursing home. But for many seniors, that time is never, because it’s not always necessary and rarely is it the best option. The best option is often home health care.

Home health care is a blanket term that can cover any number of services. The key to it all though is, of course, it is health care delivered in home. For many seniors, moving to a nursing home is troubling and depressing. And, for many seniors, they don’t need to move. With home health care they can get exactly the care and services they need in the comfort of their own home. And with Executive Care, home health care is likely far more reasonably priced than you may have thought.

Personal Care

If you or an elderly family member have trouble with the activities of daily life, you should consider home health care. By activities of daily life, we mean things such as eating, bathing, and dressing. If these minor chores are becoming big problems, home health care is a great option.

Our Personal Care services include:

  • Assisting with bowel regularity, self-administered medications, basic skin care and nail maintenance
  • Emptying or changing external urinary collecting devices, including catheter bags
  • Providing colostomy care and emptying ostomy bag
  • Assistance with urinals, bedpans and/or commodes
  • Providing bowel and bladder incontinence care
  • Encouraging to perform normal body movements and to follow prescribed exercise programs
  • Assisting with positioning in bed, wheelchair and other chairs
  • Assisting with transferring to/from bed, wheelchair, toilet and chair

In-home Personal Care services may not be available in all states. Please talk with us to find out.

Many seniors require specialized care, often in response to a specific ailment or health event. But even in these cases, home health care is often the best option. Executive Care caregivers are skilled and experienced in how to help seniors with a variety of conditions, including:

What People Are Saying About Us

I’d like to convey to you how wonderful the aide Afia is for my mother’s care. She has been with her since last January and has become more than just a caregiver. She truly “cares” and is skillful in her abilities. My mom has had several health situations and her current health has improved to the best she has been in several years. Both her doctor and my family attribute a large part of that to Afia’s care. She is diligent about her diet and sleep patterns, and her “toileting” issues. All of this has contributed greatly to my mom’s overall improved health and her peace of mind as well as our family’s peace of mind. We cannot say enough about her. We are also very satisfied with Executive Care all the way around, from the billing department and everyone we speak with on the phone, very courteous and professional.

It’s almost five years since we have been receiving caregivers through Executive Care, and I would like to take this transitional period to express our appreciation for the services you have provided thus far. We are particularly appreciative of the special attention and care Lili has given to our case. Lili has been very sensitive to our particular needs and it has been and remains important to us to have consistency in the arrangements by having Lili as our go-to person in light of Dr. E’s special needs. It is apparent that Lili has many other important responsibilities, so we wanted to thank Executive Care and Lili for the efforts she has made on our behalf.

I have had business dealings with Executive Care for some time now and have invariably been very satisfied. The personnel have been considerate, trustworthy, capable and always responsive. They have provided a genuine physical and emotional lift to the patient, in my case an elderly, frail sister. I do not hesitate to recommend the organization for the services rendered.
