Looking For A Live-In Caregiver? Executive Care Can Help
Live-in caregivers provide the care that thousands of seniors across America need, when they need it. Can a live-in caregiver help you or your elderly loved one? Executive Care can help you decide.
Who Are Live-In Caregivers?
Live-in caregivers are caregivers who live in the homes of their clients. Sometimes people require access to care around the clock. This might be because the risk of a fall is so high and/or because somebody needs help with all the Activities of Daily Living. For seniors who need this high level of care, the only alternative to live-in care is to move into a senior care facility. But not all seniors want to live into such a facility. They might love their current homes, they might like their privacy, or they might have a neurological issue that means moving out could leave them consistently disoriented. Such seniors can benefit from the services of a live-in caregiver.
What Do Live-In Caregivers Do?
Live-in caregivers provide a range of services to help seniors live healthy, safe, and happy lives. These services include:
- Personal Care
Personal care helps seniors with what we at Executive Care call the “Activities of Daily Living”. These are physical tasks we all must do every day. Such activities include getting in and out of bed, moving around, using the toilet, bathing/showering, grooming, dental/denture care, and more.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Seniors suffer from loneliness and depression at high rates. Live-in caregivers talk with their clients, listen to their concerns, reminisce with them, play card or board games with them, and help them keep up with correspondence. They can also keep an eye out for symptoms of progression of a neurodegenerative disease.
It’s important to live in a clean and orderly home. When they’re on the clock and not directly helping their client, live-in caregivers can spend time tidying up the home. This might include vacuuming, cleaning the kitchen, and doing laundry, as well as running errands such as buying groceries.
