It’s National Blueberry Month!

July might be coming to a close soon, but there’s still time to celebrate National Blueberry Month!

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants, which help fight off free radicals. They’re also low in fat and full of fiber, so they make a great snack and help you feel fuller longer. But that’s not all blueberries are good for, here are some more benefits to eating more blueberries:

  • Vitamin C

One serving of blueberries gives you about 25% of your daily dose of vitamin C. Vitamin C not only helps with your immune system, it also helps build collagen and maintains healthy gums.

  • Reduce cancer risk

Blueberries contain anthocyanins, which give blueberries their color. These  anthocyanins also help improve heart health and may help attack cancer-causing free radicals!

  • Boost heart health

Studies have found that berries, such a blueberries, may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease because they contain flavanoids, which may help reduce the build-up of plaque.

So while they’re in season, stock up on those blueberries and make them part of your everyday diet!
